NAWC Congratulates Senator Boxer on
Chairing Key Committee

Washington DC, January 4, 2007 – Peter Cook, Executive Director of the National Association of Water Companies (NAWC) congratulated Senator Boxer upon taking the helm of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee.

“Senator Boxer has an established record of strong environmental protection, and we look forward to working with her and her staff to assure that water service continues to be provided to Americans in an efficient and environmentally responsible way” said Cook.

“NAWC members operate water utilities all over the country, so they are on the front lines of health and environmental protection.  The long-established public-private partnership system allows Americans to enjoy reliable and plentiful water service,” Cook said.  “These partnerships must endure, and we are confident that with Sen. Boxer’s leadership, they can continue to benefit communities and consumers for years to come,” Cook concluded.

NAWC represents all aspects of the private water service industry. The range of our members’ business includes ownership of regulated drinking water and wastewater utilities and the many forms of public-private partnerships and management contract arrangements.
